The Right Accessories Make Your Waxing Skills Better
As a wax professional you know how important it is to build trust with your clientele...after all, you are waxing lots of private bits, right? From pre and post-care to your style of waxing and training, you know all these elements make a difference in how you build and maintain your waxing business. That’s why you can’t overlook any steps in the process, including the accessories you use. Take it from The Wax Queen, not all strips, spatulas, or warmers are created equal, so make sure you have the best waxing accessories in your wax room. Here are a few of our favorites and why we feel they make a difference.
Wax Warmers
The key to a smooth, clean wax is temperature. It’s crucial to the overall experience and your technique that the wax is the optimal temperature. Under heated wax goes on too thick and because it doesn’t remove the hair as well can lead to bruising. If the wax is too hot, it can burn the skin. A quality warmer will also heat both hard and soft wax evenly allowing for you to focus on taking care of your client, not worrying about the wax temperature. And make sure your wax warmer offers temperature settings, as you should always adjust based on room temperature.
Wax Removal Strips
Here at Tuel, we love non-woven strips that are strong enough to be used many times before throwing them away (legs, for example, would use seven strips total). The wax also doesn’t come through the strip, which keeps your hands clean during the procedure, and the wide strips allow you to remove and rub as you go, creating a cleaner, more efficient process.
Spatulas
Wax application requires the use of various sized spatulas, and as you know proper technique has a lot to do with the spatulas you use. Certain spatulas can result in not applying the right amount of wax to the skin, and cause you to use more than you need for each treatment. Keep your strips and spatulas handy so you can easily pull out clean ones and work quickly. The large plastic reusable spatulas can cut your waxing time by 50%, so even though you have to take a few minutes between appointments to clean and sterilize, they are well worth it. Smaller disposable wooden spatulas are perfect for areas such as the face.
Pre and Post Care
Specifically designed to condition the skin before waxing, a pre-depilatory oil can be used with any of our signature waxes. Mineral oil and sweet almond oil creates a protective barrier on the skin that won't interfere with the efficacy of the wax. Also, consider using post-wax essential oil to calm and cool your client’s skin, and an acne control gel to target bacteria and help prevent breakouts when waxing the face, chest and upper back. Apply it post-wax and tell your clients to use it morning and night until the acne clears up.
